Founded in 1680, and declared Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1995, the Old Town of Colonia del Sacramento is a testimony of the Portuguese and Spanish footprints that formed the history and identity of the city.

EL REAL DE SAN CARLOS.
Four kilometers north from the Old City of Colonia del Sacramento, the Real de San Carlos, is an emblematic structure of the city. In this zone in the year 1761, the Viceroy Pedro de Ceballos established himself to surround the Portuguese colony.
At the beginning of the 20th century an important tourist complex was constructed under the initiative of an Argentine businessman who had the vision of the potential of the tourism in this city. He constructed a bullring and a casino that worked until 1917. Nowadays the ruins of the bullring do not allow the public to access inside the building.
